1. Any poem in common meter can be sung to the tune of both Yankee Doodle and The House of the Rising Sun. That includes the Dickinson one that was in my head the entire time I was talking to you.

2. You seem to feel like you're responsible for me. That's great, but I've never had that before and I don't know if that's what I need now.

3. I'm not Pinocchio. I don't want to be Pinocchio.

4. There is nothing more precious than seeing peace on your face while you sleep.

5. I want to spend time with you in a way that doesn't mean I want to talk with you. I sort of just want to be around you. I think somehow you're more like me than I'm rude enough to say to your face.

6. I'm scared to talk theory with you, because you might furnish answers, or questions that hurt.

7. It's not you. It's order of operations. Besides, I don't know what to do with any of it.

8. I still can't tell if your beliefs around justice are skewed, or if you utterly lack the ability to give yourself leeway. Either way, I don't think it's my problem to solve, but it's sure awkward holding onto the fact that there's a weirdness there.

Beyond that? I can be a stranger, I can be a friend--I can make sure you never have to pay for your own liquor again. But the dead belong to me, and I'll get as close or stay as far away as I got to in order for 'em to be happy and safe.
