Pumpkin Hollow Pen-Pal Program

PUMPKIN HOLLOW'S PEN-PAL PROGRAM

Welcome to the Pumpkin Hollow Pen-Pal Program!

-

Letters have been something that has brought people across Concord closer together in spite of great distances. Being cut off from the greater world has not only left people lacking in outlets to write to friends and loved ones they may not have time to see every day, but left our local post office alarmingly dry of service.

That's where you can help!

By joining Marrow Isle's Pen-Pal Program, not only can you assist in revitalizing our postal service and help to keep our couriers on the move, but through our pen-pal lottery, you'll have the potential to write to an acquaintance, an old friend, or perhaps a new friend entirely! Participation in the lottery is entirely optional, of course, as you're always welcome to simply register and write to your current companions.

To participate, all you need to do is provide your mailing address via the form below, and the post office will provide you envelopes, paper, and ink, free of charge! We look forward to seeing new bonds formed through writing!

To sign up for a pen-pal, all you have to do is:

  • Create a toplevel for your character that will serve as their pen-pal inbox, filling out the form below! For addresses, you may either the specific address you picked from the reference sheet or just their neighborhood if you haven't picked one.
  • Reply to the Lottery comment to be entered into the lottery before the listed deadline. New lotteries to be assigned a new pen-pal will occur monthly, so feel free to sign up every month, just once, or as desired! (Be sure to have your toplevel comment inbox set up before pen-pals are assigned!)
  • If you do not want a randomly assigned partner, no worries! You can simply have one of your characters send a letter directly to another character's inbox.
  • When you are given your recipient, send them a starting letter in their inbox, and you will receive one from whoever was assigned yours! It will work like Secret Santa, resulting in two letter threads.
  • Letter threads can last as long as you want, but if you sign up again the following month, you'll get two more. Budget your energy appropriately!

A Letter

Dear Mr. Sims,

It's been awhile since we spoke, and I would wonder if you were avoiding me, but I haven't made a huge effort to follow up on my suggestion to you since the reveal of Dahlia's true nature. Still, I would like to ask now if you were ever able to speak with her.

In addition, I believe your expertise would be helpful to the new division within the enforcers if you are interested in learning more about that. I don't mean your ability, just your knowledge.

Sincerely,
Valdis

A Prompt Response, One Day Later

Valdis,

I apologize for the delay on my part, as well - life has been hectic, to say the very least of it. I'd intended to write for you sooner after the fact, but I did speak with Dahlia, and I've got a statement in my possession that I could certainly share. I think you'll be pleased to hear that she was surprisingly amicable to it; though I don't much trust that people here haven't got more to hide, it bodes well for things to come.

I'm not one for police work, but I'll hear you out, seeing as you've already pointed me in one productive direction already. What does this division handle, and how would I be helping? Let me know, and I'll consider what I can do.

I appreciate you reaching out to me. If it takes me too terribly long to get in touch, feel free to stop by Blackwood Brews - I can usually find a moment to step out and speak in person, should the need arise.

Best,
Jon

Another prompt response

Mr. Sims,

I would love to see her statement, perhaps I can glean more from it than you have already, though I am uncertain how much more there is to learn since the tongues of the Demons seem as tied as those of the Goddesses.

As for my new Division, we are tasked with handling the demons, monsters and of course that chaos god Nyarlathotep. I am looking for people who are well versed in entities beyond the norm, and of course I thought of you and Daisy. Daisy is, of course, in a relationship with Dahlia, and as I consider her a friend, I would not dare risk my relationship with her by asking for her help.

I don't believe Dahlia is our enemy, but we do not get along for reasons I am not entirely certain of. Perhaps her statement will make things more clear.

I may stop by at some point, if only for a break, I feel like I've been going night and day since the party.

Valdis,

You're entirely right, regarding the tying of hands, even in the wake of this new information. It does offer some perspective, and potential angles we should look at, so I do think you should come see it at your soonest convenience. Don't let our attempts to strategize dissuade you from visiting for a break, though; I can only imagine how busy things have been.

I'll consider your offer for being a part of the team, though I may opt to lend my assistance on a case-by-case basis. I've had some difficulty in my life before with law enforcement, and I'm sure you'll understand my misgivings with spending too much time in such a working environment.

Dahlia and I, too, have been mostly at odds in our time knowing one another. I find myself frequently conflicted about her, to be entirely honest with you. I think such things would be best spoken about in person, however.

I'll save you my rambling and end my letter here. I hope you're well, and I look forward to speaking more soon.

Best,
Jon

Not as prompt a response

Jon,

Apologies for the delay, as you can imagine I have been quite busy with my work and of course fielding certain questions regarding an individual in custody. Hopefully I can count on you on this case as I think your skills would be very useful.

Please meet me at the DSA at your convenience if you are interested. It's not a secret, but further details should not be placed in writing.

Of course I will stop by your place when I have the time, I could really use the break.
