“They’ll eat just about anything they can get, but they definitely have a fondness for fish. I’m not sure why. Perhaps the fish have certain minerals that are beneficial to the cliffbeasts, or perhaps it is simply easy for them to scavenged beached slaughterfish when the sloughs fall low.”

She pauses, thinking.

“Perhaps they are not so fond of fish, and I am under this impression because I grew up in a place where water was plentiful. The cliffbeasts inland wouldn’t have had easy access to the sloughs, but they are most plentiful amidst the rocky crags…”
