There's a reason that she dodged the topic of her and Daisy as much as she could, but there's not exactly a way to do so now. At least, one that doesn't involve a hasty retreat and a 'Sorry, Melanie, just remembered I've got an appointment, goodbye, we'll talk next month and I'll pretend we didn't have half of this conversation. No, really, I'm so sorry, goodbye!'
She manages to not do this. She can handle it. She got herself into this mess (with help, of course), she can endure the social scrutiny of being in that mess.
