Mary laughs at the idea of herself trying to ride a pennyfarthing bike. "I'd have to climb a ladder to get up there, and good luck reaching the pedals!" But her comment doesn't sound particularly bitter, just amused. "It's too bad I don't know much about how bicycles are put together, or maybe I'd be able to tell them about the more normal-looking ones I've seen back home."
A bike of more modern proportions, custom made to Mary's height... now that might be something she could work with. She doesn't have the money for a project like that, and certainly not to hire an assistant, but it's a thought for the future.
She nods along with Gerard's suggestions. "Thank you, Gerard. I'll plan to speak with them tomorrow. As it is, I think I'll head to the Oak and Iron soon and claim a room. Please tell me they have running water, or at least hot baths!"
