"It's more that...I understand that this is your business, and you are thanked for doing your work, but my gratitude runs deeper than merely being a customer. Though I am blind, Miss Whitlock, I care a great deal about my appearance and how I am perceived in others' eyes, since they are the ones that will be falling upon me. Being able to be both comfortable and appropriately styled, it means a great deal, for it means I don't have to be guessing and instead can simply assume that I'm presentable enough to create a good impression."

She'd tried to explain this in the past, once. If she showed up in uncared for clothes, messy hair, people would take it as being sloppy, and then pity the poor blind girl who can't even attend to herself. But put together, it commands respect, a little more even footing.
