Eddie picked up a copy of the Gazette and skimmed it -- the phrase 'spider-like creature' almost immediately standing out to him. Given his recent past experiences it's understandable.
Eddie makes a sound that's half groan and half laugh, covering his face with the newsprint page as he asks, "Why is it always spiders?"
Even if the River Walker isn't really. Even if 'spider' just what the puny human mind can conceive of what they're seeing. His back still aches from being grabbed, his throat is still just a bit raw from the screaming...
