Hyrule is much the same. It's a large country that contains several mostly self-governed city-states that cooperate with the national government when necessary. I wouldn't call it perfect, but I wouldn't say it's corrupt either, and the food is as diverse as the land itself. Sadly we are a bit disaster-prone, though. We've had to survive many would-be apocalypses over our history.
