Jeff starts to speak, then stops himself. The implications are sobering, horrifying, and anything he can think to say would just be... fucking stupid. What can he say that wouldn't sound childish and inane?

He swallows, and this time he tries to think before he speaks.

"I bet... I bet a lot of mages are gonna grow up free 'cause of what you did. And I know it doesn't make up for how scary and fucked up that must've been, but, um." He offers a faint smile. "I'm glad you're here now, at least."
