The longer Laios speaks with him, the more he's able to pick up on the fact that this fellow seems a bit far away from the world around them. It's concerning, but addressing it outright doesn't strike him as something that would help.

Instead, he adjusts the backpack straps on his shoulders, and nods down the path with his head.

"I've got some fruit and vegetable gathering to do, but I could try to find one of the ones my friend told me about when I get back to town. If you're interested in joining me, I'd be happy to have someone along with me. It's safer to travel here in a group!"
