Valdis looks away and down, slowly moving her legs through the hot water as she thinks over her response.

"I still care about her, you know." She continues to watch the water. "But the relationship was hurting her. She needed things I couldn't give her, so it was hurting me too. It wasn't fair to either of us to keep going on as we were."
