The admission gives the sphinx pause, and her expression shifts from a somber calm, to something more... mournful. Esmeray is finally satisfied enough with the authenticity of these answers to step from her perch, slow and careful, to close the wider distance with Ava to something more personable.

"...It's a wound that weighs the heart heavier than anything, isn't it? The loss of a loved one?" She asks, quiet and sympathetic. She's careful with her gesturing, and with her hands only semi-opposable and not fit for waving towards things, she instead paces past Ava, towards the skeleton on the floor. A look was taken to it, a solemn regard, before she looks back Ava's way.

"I cannot find my way back to my heart... for he never left. Even as his people moved into safer parts of their homelands, he stayed here, to his own detriment." Her words have gained a light tremble, but she works to maintain composure as she turns to fully face Ava once more. "But I know I would give anything to find my way back to him. One lifetime isn't enough. ...I wish I had any escape to him to offer you, but--- I'm so sorry fate would tear you from your own love. It isn't fair, is it?"
