"I— am. Yeah." Even admitting it feels weird, but by now she knows it to be true. No amount of denial can change it. "But it isn't on you to help. You've only just met me."

There are two meanings that are commonly attributed to the Gift of the Moon. The most common in the modern day is that what's broken cannot be fixed. The oldest is that if something cannot be fixed, then you should start over.

"I-I've just spent a long time trying to be— what people need me to be. Like— like the moon in that story. And like the moon in that story, I fell. Just... no one was there to pick me back up." She breathes, in and out. "But now— now I'm here. And there are new stars in the sky. And three moons. And— and that's pretty cool, at least."

Trying to cling to the mundane joys is hard, but it's something she's desperately trying to do.
