Lev sucks on their teeth, but quietly, aware that Angel might not take it as an expression of sympathy but as something else, like derision. They're already feeling more than a little sheepish for having been tactless (well, tactless by their own reckoning, at least).

So they don't look Angel in the eye, and say softly, "shall we find a place to sit? We need not talk more about this. Unless, like, thou wish'st?"

They pitch their voice like they do when by the house of those sitting shiva.

... and the thought of death, of mourning and ritual, instantly brings to mind home, and the marital bed and the communal kitchen by the maisonette flat near the oldest section of the Talons' outer wall. And faced with Angel here and now is the first time Lev has cause to consider that maybe they've got a rather unusual relationship with death, to say the least.

"I mind not," they add, a little hastily. "Uh. Death is not so alien by me."
