César is gone for over 24 hours. Which is unusual for him. He's never missed a chance to say hello to Magne since the first time they've talked. And he definitely hadn't been to his room last night, either.
When he does finally arrive, it's after the usual dinnertime. He went out to look at farms after meeting First Aid, needing to be alone, where he met Cerrit. One would expect a much deeper five o'clock shadow for him having been out all night and day, but it's the same as it always is at this time.
But his expression isn't the same. Nor is he. César was always quiet, but he seems folded up into himself this time. Also, holding a broom? (Look. It's a free broom. He needs a broom.)
... is he trying to sneak up to his room. Because it looks like he's trying to do that without saying hello to anyone. At least to put the broom away.
