Re: Wildcard: Library

Lev is no necromancer themself, but they've been an assistant to their husband often enough that they know the signs of a restless soul, or a meys abandoned to the kindness of a passing Jew, or ... well, that, but one who got sick of waiting, got up and walked off.

So as far as they're concerned, it's probably a someone, at least as long as they're on this side of the divide.

"Nu," they say. "New. Yes." They look to the side, studying Angel intensely. The light among the stacks is dim, and their eyes and the star in their forehead glow softly. "And thou? New here, or newly here in such a state?"

They know the signs—no breathing, no blinking, but wearing shoes and not looking in any discomfort from doing so, and no sound of porcelain prosthetics striking the floorboards, like with the old feldmeisterin.

It bothers them precisely none. The still-standing dead are just like the living, in that they too are eventually laid to rest to sleep in the dust. And even six years with their husband has been plenty to get used to corpses.
