In Faerun, there are all kinds of people of every size in the book. So when she first sees Mary, there is, of course, a few moments of deliberation. Is she a kid or is she a halfling? (Both are ultimately wrong, but hey, that's Dungeons and Dragons for ya.)
A moment of observation from her table. Okay she has a deep voice... and the bartender gave her alcohol without any questions. Definitely an adult, unless this place is letting kids buy booze.
Now that the "not a kid" test has been passed with flying colors, Mairi feels comfortable viewing her as an adult halfling who is admittedly pretty cute. And it doesn't help that Mairi is also staying at the tavern and microdosing love potion all damn day. But this presents a new conundrum--- does she like girls?
And so begins the age old dance of befriending a girl and trying to figure out whether or not she's straight. She sits down at the bar and smiles, deciding on a compliment that doesn't sound too friendly or too flirty.
"Hi, sorry to bother you, but I absolutely love your hair."
{ OOC: No hard feelings if Mairi strikes out! They can still be friends :) }
