It was exactly like that. And Kavinsky thought he'd stumbled across that before, but really...maybe he should have known things weren't going to work out with Ronan considering all the abuse they hurled at each other. Things that Kavinsky had let get under his skin, unable to help wondering if Ronan really thought that way about him instead of it just being the thing they did. This was completely different. He didn't even feel the need to posture, to put on his tough front. He felt okay being himself, for a change.

And- oh. He thought he'd had a moment before when his thoughts had scrambled- this was different, too, better. He took a shaky breath and gave Ash's hand a squeeze, holding on like the contact was as necessary as air.

"It is. And- I do impossible things all the time, and trying to get those things is still out of reach." He didn't think, maybe, it would actually be so bad to talk about his secret.
