"But why place the bodies somewhere random?" Tarantulas wonders out loud. "Moving them elsewhere would make sense if whatever killed them is continuous or still in the area -- if someone died in a house fire, for instance, it would be a waste of time and energy to put them back where they fell -- but why not place them out of harm's way somewhere nearby? How mysterious."

His gaze re-focuses on Chris. "Do people die often around here?" he asks, making a particular effort to sound sympathetic. "I'm sorry, I know that's a rather painful question. But I can't help but wonder what I might be facing in the future."
