"I've gotten— better, at handling it, over the years. I grew up in group homes. Lots of other kids around, all with their own very real problems that all just made my life even worse, because I got a taste of all of them. I guess, if nothing else, it made me learn how to cope."

Experience is certainly a teacher, if a harsh one. Honestly, it should be classed as cruel and unusual punishment for a teenage girl to go through puberty and developing superpowered empathy at the same time, but regulating that would mean people accepting such things exist.

"These days I can mostly handle it, even the bar would be manageable if I wasn't coming off... everything that led me here."

She doesn't want to think about that too hard.
