Aldo sits, putting his plate aside, and listens.

He's not a particular student of folklore and anthropology, but he knows enough about European folklore to recognize classic elements of fairy stories. Not Tinkerbell and the Cottingley Fairies, not little winged ladies who danced in flowers. Changelings and the aes sĂdhe and trickster forces, stories that had been claimed to be the work of demons or fallen angels.

He knows enough, too, to not question calling it 'the Fairest of Lands'. It's a euphemism, like 'fair folk' or 'good neighbors'. Anything to avoid calling it what it is and attracting undue attention.

"If I may ask - what is it they take?" he asks gently, leaving her room to decline answering. The more he can understand, the better he can help however he can.
