Good day! And... well, it's just botanical talks, truly. The definition of 'berry' came a lot later than the common name of many fruits and vegetables and it refers to a vegetable part that has three distinct fleshy layers: from the outside toward the middle? The exocarp, the mesocarp and the endocarp where the seeds are located. If you think about it, there's plenty of things that one wouldn't consider a berry that are one, right? Even things like eggplants or oranges or watermelons or bananas. Strawberries are what we call aggregate fruits, though, and their whole structure doesn't match the definition of berry. Ah- but, of course, that doesn't mean it's all a lie. For example, blueberries are true berries!
